Out of Africa Via Mercury
Part II

©Lorena Loo

In the final two diagrams below I illustrated the planetary relationships as they would correspond on Leonardo's Vitruvian Man both by itself and with respect to a golden triangle.
And so ends my tale of three planets. Yes I could have titled this piece A Tale of Three Planets. But it might not have caught your attention as much as Out of Africa Via Mercury.

Author Notes: Data for polar and equatorial radii of the Earth, Mercuy and Venus used in my calculations were drawn from NASA's Planetary Fact Sheets available at http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/planetfact.html

This part is for those who need or want to know technical details on how I calculated the latitudes cited in this article. First I calculated the geocentric latitude using the equatorial radius of the Earth. I then converted geocentric values to geodetic (same as geographic) latitudes. It is the latter values which I have given in the article.
